HOUSE STREET AND Herrington Avenue WEST of U.S. 131
Contractor: DeSal Excavating, Inc. of Zeeland.
This contract is the third water main project undertaken by Plainfield Township to provide municipal water to residents affected by PFAS contamination including “Area 1A” on House Street. Construction will include installation of 16–inch water main across Pine Island Drive at House Street, then along the north side of House Street from Pine Island to just south of Brent Drive. This water main will connect to the “Area 1B” water main that will be installed by Dykema Excavators under US131.
This project will be done in two phases, both of which will have House Street closed to through traffic but open to local traffic. The first phase will be the west half from Pine Island to about Imperial Pine. When the water main is completed in this area, the Kent County Road Commission’s contractor will take over and start reconstructing the road. As soon as the Road Commission begins road reconstruction on the west half, DeSal will continue laying water main in the second phase from Imperial Pine to just south of Brent Drive.
Herrington Avenue and Chandler Drive east of U.S. 131
Contractor: Dykema Excavators, Inc. of Grand Rapids.
This contract is one of the first water main projects undertaken by Plainfield Township to provide municipal water to residents affected by PFAS contamination. Construction will include installation of 16-inch water main along Chandler Drive from Shining Tree Drive to Herrington Avenue, then along Herrington Ave. from Chandler Dr. north to the cul-de-sac at US131. It will also include construction of a 16-inch water main through two private easements west of Herrington Ave. and crossing under US131 near the median turnaround.
Wellington RidgeTownship: Algoma
Contractor: Bultsma Excavating of Grand Rapids
Plainfield Township is coordinating the construction project for Algoma Township because Algoma does not have a municipal water system, thus, Plainfield is extending its water system further into Algoma Township to supply Algoma residents affected by PFAS contamination.
